Every Friday throughout the school year, a growing number of Mattawan Consolidated Schools students, who are at risk of going hungry over the weekend, receive a food pack filled with a variety of healthy and kid-friendly meals and snacks to provide added nutritional support. This effort is the result of generous community donations to Wildpaks, a 501C(3) nonprofit organization that has been proudly supporting our area students for almost 14 years.
The Need Is Growing
Within the 2023-2024 school year alone, we’ve experienced a nearly 20% growth in families supported, now serving nearly 250 students weekly through this amazing program. That's over 5,500 food paks distributed throughout the year! We are expecting this number to increase to over 300 students in the 2024-2025 school year. Furthermore, the average food pack cost has increased 30% year over year.
How You Can Help
They say “it takes a village” to help raise a child and provide a healthy environment and security needed to develop, flourish, and realize his or her hopes and dreams.
Here are ways you can support the mission of the Mattawan Wildpaks program and positively impact the life of a student in need.
$25 will provide support to one Mattawan student for a month.
$50 will purchase 24 jars of peanut butter.
$100 will support a child for four months.
$200 adopts one student for a full school year of weekend food packs.
